Events now rarely last more than one or two days. While some events can be quite lengthy, their duration still generally doesn't exceed three days. However, the MICE planning cycle hasn't shortened – major clients still begin preparing for December corporate events in June: collecting bids for venues, deciding on the event format, selecting contractors, and agreeing on a budget. A quick response and understanding of the client's goals and objectives will be the secret to success in MICE in 2026.

Last year, agriculture, fashion, real estate, and electronics significantly reduced their MICE activity. Steady growth in the events industry was observed in finance and education. Demand from social activities, IT, and telecommunications increased significantly. Medicine remains the leading MICE industry, hosting one in five (18%) events on the market.

All the above facts confirm that the MICE market has changed significantly over the past year. Instead of previous growth (12% for 2024), we are seeing steady growth with a 1% growth rate. A sharp decline in demand for conference spaces in certain cities (including Sochi) suggests the need to seriously reconsider the hotel's long-term development strategy, focus on short-term niche events, and attract new clients (whose number can reach up to 12% per year) from emerging industries. Furthermore, it is essential to consider the entire client interaction process: from tracking their previous MICE activity to creating customized commercial proposals with clear digital space visualizations (online room maps) and rapid budget calculations. Speed ​​and a personalized approach will be your strategic advantage in the competitive battle for clients in 2026.

Analysis from 2025 showed that 80% of events today are held in halls up to 200 square meters. The MICE market continues to grow: people continue to meet in person, promote their services and products, and network in informal settings. However, the event format itself is changing: meetings are aimed at a narrow target audience, events are being redistributed to smaller venues (including unusual locations such as lofts, museums, and presidential suites), and every centimeter of space is being used to address specific needs—the client expects maximum return on investment from every square meter. The wow factor has been replaced by rationalization and healthy pragmatism.

MICE is one of the most undervalued revenue streams for the hotel industry. Attracting corporate clients to hotels, increasing occupancy, and increasing average guest stays—the development of the MICE sector offers all these opportunities. However, strategic planning should be guided not by abstract theory, but by market data.
